The Opportunity

Nokia is now offering the exciting opportunity for a senior business development professional to contribute to the company’s vision of transforming the human experience as Head of Business Development, Multimedia. In particular, the appointed person will be directing Nokia’s dedicated teams and licensing programs, to further strategize the growth and development of Nokia’s extensive licensing platform across diverse high-profile technologies in the Multimedia space.

The appointee will be tasked with leading licensing projects across Nokia with particular focus on strengthening growth areas such as OTT and video streaming technologies. The appointed person will have full responsibility for identifying, developing and coordinating Nokia Technologies’ growth areas, initiatives and plans, and driving and leading business development activities relating to Multimedia Services.

The position calls for a highly experienced, business-minded IP licensing professional able to adapt to and thrive on the challenges of a dynamic, fast-paced and profit-orientated environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and drive business development programs and activities for profitable revenue growth, coordinating with Nokia Technologies teams and units across Nokia, e.g. Nokia Bell Labs.
  • Lead negotiations and close patent licensing deals while taking into account the strategy and business goals of the company.
  • Develop strategies and set goals for licensing projects and relating customer engagement plans to deliver recurring revenue and manage team cost performance.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the high quality of processes and standards in their own area. Be recognized as a thought leader within the organizational unit.
  • Support the organization in achieving business goals and targets. Ensure that the working environment encourages innovation.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and a broad business perspective in order to design and develop projects, processes and content relevant to our patent licensing business.

The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to possess the following:

  • Significant relevant experience in patent out-licensing (OTT/Streaming Video and/or social media is a big plus).
  • Proven deal-making skills – ability to understand all sides in a negotiation while seeking effective and creative solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and presentation skills as well as a team player mindset.
  • Familiarity with patent licenses and related legal agreements is required.
  • Project management skills, and determination to see things through to completion.
  • Thinks and acts creatively to develop and apply new innovative approaches to complex problems.
  • Analytical skills and understanding of financial analyses.
  • Able to work with high degree of independence.
  • Willingness to travel and to work under pressure.
  • Communication skills, excellent command of written and spoken English.
