Client: GSK

GSK is a British multinational biopharma company with global headquarters in London, England employing over 90,000 people across 92 countries. In 2017, GSK commenced a significant corporate transformation to address historic long-standing issues that have affected performance. Major progress has been achieved across the business to improve performance, strengthen capabilities and prepare GSK for a new future.

The company has substantially strengthened its R&D performance and productivity. Since 2017, GSK has delivered 13 major product approvals and doubled the number of assets in Phase III and registration to 23.

In July 2022, GSK demerged the world-leading consumer healthcare business, Haleon, to become a fully focused biopharma company. GSK now prioritise innovation in vaccines and specialty medicines, maximising the increasing opportunities to prevent and treat disease. At the heart of this is GSK’s R&D focus on the science of the immune system, human genetics and advanced technologies, and their world-leading capabilities in vaccines and medicines development. GSK has a bold ambition to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people over the next 10 years.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of a science-led, global biopharma company – interacting directly with business leaders and clients, with the ability to influence the overall IP strategy.

At GSK, their goal is to unite science, talent and technology to get ahead of disease together. The company has a clear strategy to prevent and treat disease with vaccines, specialty and general medicines by focusing on science of the immune system, human genetics and advanced technologies.

Their Intellectual Property group plays an integral role in realising their goal by protecting R&D investment and IP assets. The IP group provides proactive support via patent teams to research sites in Europe and US, working collaboratively with scientists and senior managers in a fastmoving culture that is ambitious for patients.
