The Opportunity

Ipsilon wishes to recruit a number of Patent Attorneys with a broad and varied background across the chemistry field. Based either in Paris, Bourg-la-Reine or out of any of several locations across France, successful candidates will assume an important role in executing work on behalf of some of the team’s most important clients.

In summary, prospective candidates will:

  • File and draft patent applications;
  • Oversee patent prosecution activities;
  • Handle oppositions before the EPO;
  • Advise clients in relation to patent portfolio management, including strategies for protection and enforcement in order to maximise the portfolio’s true value and potential from a commercial perspective;
  • Provide advice in relation to litigation and agreements, including licensing;
  • Provide support to other senior members of the team in managing key client relationships and in relation to the running of the Chemistry department;
  • Assist in growing the firm’s client base in this area for the future.

The Candidate

Successful candidates will ideally possess the following qualifications:

  • Fully qualified European Patent Attorney, with proven experience (with applications from part-qualified Attorneys with high potential also considered);
  • A degree in Chemistry or equivalent;
  • A background working in either private practice and/or industry in the field of Chemistry (the firm is open to candidates with a broad knowledge and expertise across the chemical field);
  • Experience across several activities, including patent portfolio management, FTO matters and oppositions/litigation;
  • Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory.
