Tarkett is seeking a Senior IP Counsel with a background in materials science, chemistry, or physics (preferably experience with multi-disciplinary technology). A qualification as a patent attorney in a European country and post-graduate degree in Industrial Property Law at CEIPI Patents (or an equivalent degree) would be a plus.

Working closely with the Group R&D Scientific Director and the Group IP Legal Director, the position will deal with a broad range of patent portfolio and strategy matters, such as:

  • Following development and innovation projects and actively capturing inventions within the Group, notably by building close relationships with relevant teams, and defining adequate IP protection strategies, in relation with other departments.
  • Developing and aligning the patent portfolio in accordance with business needs and priorities.
  • Managing with external services or running internally patent landscaping, patentability, and freedom to operate studies and following competitors’ activities (including patent watch).
  • Drafting, filing and following patent applications and procedures, with external law firms or internally.
  • Supporting patent enforcement (litigation/pre-litigation) in collaboration with the Group IP Legal Counsel and external counsels.
  • Identifying valorisation opportunities (licensing, etc.), and supporting valorisation actions in collaboration with the Group IP Legal Counsel.
  • Taking part in the improvement of internal policies and procedures, leading and promoting the patent/technical experts’ community and patent committee to support IP efficiency, in collaboration with other departments.
  • Managing IP costs with the support of a financial controller.
