THE OPPORTUNITY

Opie is growing and is consequently seeking an experienced lawyer specialising in intellectual property (IP) transactions. This position provides a dynamic environment and platform in a boutique law firm specialising in international technology.

As a German qualified lawyer with at least 8 years’ experience, you will have gained concrete IP transaction experience from a range of sectors and within international settings. Experience of Competition law would be an advantage.

The firm offers high quality, challenging and varied work in order to maintain their role as a trusted advisor to their clients who are located in Germany and internationally. As part of this, there is the opportunity to cooperate with internationally recognised legal experts.

Matter management:

  • Working independently with a high degree of responsibility and motivation to proactively and efficiently manage issues;
  • Providing supervision to junior team members.

Strategic thinking and good judgment:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the context;
  • Knowledge of the market in which the firm operates (strategic and commercial);
  • A confident and convincing manner as well as analytical and result-oriented thinking;
  • Develop reliable solutions for the clients;
  • Contribute to the strategic projects of the firm.

Business development:

  • Strong customer focus and focus on legal advice at the highest level;
  • Establishment, maintenance and expansion of client relationships;
  • Client focused goals utilising the trusted advisor framework.

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1st and 2nd state examination with above-average results; a postgraduate law degree (LL.M.) with specialisation in IP Law and/or Competition Law is a plus;
  • Excellent work ethic;
  • Fluent German and English skills, including editorial skills;
  • Ability to work in a focused and results-oriented manner in a dynamic environment;
  • Good computer skills (standard MS Office, online resources);
  • Very good interpersonal and intercultural communication skills;
  • Flexibility, resilience, and reliability;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally;
  • Great interest in technology.
