THE OPPORTUNITY
- Assist in mining Nokia’s portfolio for potentially infringed assets in technology areas such as OTT, gaming, social media, cloud and networking technologies;
- Assist in mining third party portfolios for patent acquisition opportunities;
- Prepare and cultivate valid and infringed company-specific technical decks for upcoming meetings (both in-house and using outside firms);
- Lead red-team reviews of claim charts and select which charts are fit for presentation;
- Deliver charts in technical meetings (face to face and via video conferencing) with an even keel, support licensing leads Intake and prepare defences to rebuttals and prior art arguments, ensure consistency of argumentation across multiple discussions;
- Prepare and present surrebuttals and add leverage with additional charts;
- Work with outside counsel in selecting litigation-grade assets;
- Support patent litigation;
- Support outside claim chart preparers and/or litigators as needed.
THE CANDIDATE
Nokia seeks an experienced Patent Attorney with the following experience and credentials:
- JD admitted to practice in at least one US state;
- Registration with the USPTO;
- Extensive experience in claim chart preparation and drafting and subsequently credibly, consistently and convincingly deliver clear claim chart presentations and provide strong defensive arguments;
- Ability to use sound judgement and understand assertion/litigation strategy. Willing to work with the Multimedia team to craft arguments and set strategy.
- Experience with handling multiple licensing projects in parallel and have patent mining experience for assets in larger portfolios;
- Experience with technologies such as video compression, video delivery, user experience, etc.
- Willingness to travel to attend meetings as needed;
- You should be a team player who can work exceptionally well with other attorneys, deal leads, and technical team members.
