The Role
Hoyng Rokh Monegier retained Adamson & Partners in February 2015 to recruit a US Patent Attorney with a background in Chemistry. The firm has a strong US heritage and a well-established reputation with clients for US prosecution. The position offered a clear route to partnership for the right individual, as well as the opportunity to support litigation and prosecution in other jurisdictions.
The Approach
Adamson & Partners mapped the entire US Patent Attorney market for this assignment. Some 40,000 attorneys were analysed by a range of criteria such as technical background and experience. Generally speaking, companies who are interested in recruiting foreign attorneys are often concerned about the candidate’s staying power, and whether the candidate – once settled in the position – will adapt well in the new cultural environment. In order to achieve long-term success on behalf of our client, we targeted candidates who were already based in Europe, alongside US-based attorneys with European connections (such as family or education), as they had stronger affinity with the European culture and were more inclined to remain in Europe in the foreseeable future. We were able to deliver a strong shortlist within six weeks, resulting in the appointment of the selected candidate just three weeks later. Hoyng Rokh Monegier is in the process of further expanding its US prosecution practice and has once again engaged Adamson & Partners to recruit US Patent Attorneys in the Electrical Engineering domain.
