Intellectual property
Intellectual Property (IP) is central to innovation, commercial growth, and long-term competitive advantage. In technology-driven and highly technical sectors, effectively managing and leveraging IP enables organisations to protect value, enter new markets, and translate innovation into strategic outcomes. Done well, IP is not just a legal function—it’s a driver of business performance.
Adamsons has a deep understanding of the in-house IP market, with extensive experience in senior appointments across leading companies worldwide. We combine sector expertise with jurisdictional and cultural awareness to identify leaders who can deliver IP strategy, governance, and execution at the highest level, aligned with broader business objectives.

Markets & Global leads
United kingdom
Our UK practice is led by Milli Bouri, who has over 25 years’ experience in IP recruitment. We work with in-house departments, patent and trademark firms, IP strategy and valuation companies, and an increasing number of law firms building IP teams. Milli also brings extensive experience in managing complex M&A transactions within the IP sector in the UK.
The UK IP market continues to thrive, with demand for high-quality candidates across both private practice and industry outstripping supply. With decades of experience, we are attuned to these challenges and utilise our extensive network to engage candidates directly—something that remains critical in securing the right talent.
Germany
Our German practice is led by Julian Adamson, who works with private practice and industry clients across the country. With approximately 5,300 qualified European Patent Attorneys, Germany remains the largest talent pool of patent professionals in Europe.
Given the breadth of industries and technologies—from automotive to life sciences, all technical disciplines within the profession are well represented. Adamsons maintains a comprehensive database of these professionals, mapped across career history, IP qualifications, technical background, and location.
France
Our French practice is led by Christopher Adamson. Being bilingual and half French, he supports industry clients across all sectors, alongside a select group of IP law firms.
Christopher combines local understanding with international reach to identify and secure high-calibre talent—whether French nationals or European Patent Attorneys with multinational experience—helping clients strengthen and expand their IP capabilities.
Benelux
Our work in the Benelux region is led by Rene Chung, who works with a wide range of industry clients and a select group of patent law firms across the region.
A key challenge in this market is the limited local talent pool, with fewer than 1,000 qualified European Patent Attorneys across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Our pan-European search capability is therefore essential—particularly as innovation-led businesses and international organisations continue to establish and expand their presence in the region.
Nordics
Our work in the Nordics is led by Julian Adamson, who works with both industry and private practice clients. This is a highly relationship-driven market, where deep knowledge of the talent pool and Scandinavian culture is essential.
While there is a strong base of nationally qualified professionals, there remains a shortage of European-qualified patent attorneys. In addition, IP professionals in the region are typically less mobile than in other jurisdictions, making comprehensive and targeted search strategies critical to identifying the right candidates.
Switzerland
Rene Chung leads our practice in Switzerland, with a primary focus on industry clients. This market is distinctive, with one of the most diverse and multicultural IP workforces in Europe. Language requirements often vary significantly depending on a company’s heritage and operational footprint.
The local talent pool is small, with only around 5% of qualified European Patent Attorneys based in Switzerland—and only a third of those being Swiss nationals. Combined with a high concentration of industry clients, this creates strong demand for both local and international talent. Rene regularly leads pan-European searches to identify and relocate high-calibre IP professionals into the Swiss market.
