THE CLIENT
Adamson & Partners were retained in June 2015 to assist Celanese with the recruitment of a Senior IP Counsel to be located at a new facility in Budapest, Hungary. Celanese {NYSE: CE} is a global technology and specialty materials company that engineers and manufactures a wide variety of products essential to everyday living.
THE ROLE
The role was responsible for the management of existing and new IP originating from Europe and other global R&D sites. The position also included ownership of certain local legal compliance issues. The responsibilities of the role required a senior candidate with a proven track record of IP management gained within a global chemicals business.
OUR APPROACH
The limited size of the talent pool, with the added complexity of a relocation, meant that a global search was required. We were able to utilise our existing networks, augmented with original research, to present a shortlist to Celanese within a month comprising candidates from the US, Canada, Hungary, Denmark and the UK. Following the presentation of our shortlist we worked with a diverse set of Celanese stakeholders across sites in the US, Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary to ensure that candidates were thoroughly assessed. With the interviews completed, Adamson & Partners supported Celanese through the offer process, with the successful candidate accepting the position in October.
