Adamson & Partners is celebrating 2022’s World Intellectual Property Day. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) member states selected 26th April (the date in 1970 on which the WIPO convention came into force) as the day to raise awareness and a general understanding of intellectual property globally.

The theme for this year’s World Intellectual Property Day is ‘IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future’ which focuses on how “young inventors, creators and entrepreneurs can use intellectual property (IP) rights to achieve their goals, generate income, create jobs, tackle local and global challenges and support community and national development”.

As of 2022, there are 1.8 billion young people from the ages of 10 to 24, the largest youth population in history. According to a statement from WIPO, “young people are stepping up to innovation challenges, using their energy and ingenuity, their curiosity and creativity to steer a course towards a better future”. WIPO hopes that its campaign will help young people gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the IP system, including trademarks, patents, design rights, and copyrights, to further their personal and professional goals.

We would like to wish all of our clients and candidates a happy World Intellectual Property Day and look forward to supporting the progress of young IP talent as they embark on flourishing careers.
